[00:00] Hi, I’m Tina White. I’m a naturopath, herbalist, acupuncturist, biometeorotherapist, masseuse, and many other things.

[00:10] Commonly today, women, men, and children can experience candida. Candida is a commensal organism that we all naturally have.

[00:20] It is only when candida becomes irritating or imbalanced that it can become problematic.

[00:30] There are ways of testing candida to validate where it may be present, including areas where it should not be, such as in the blood. It can move around the body in different ways.

[00:45] There are many useful strategies available from both conventional and natural health perspectives, and many people choose to explore natural alternatives.

[01:00] There are also simple ways of testing, along with signs and symptoms that stand out for many people.

[01:10] Understanding how we approach candida involves a holistic perspective, including diet, lifestyle, and other contributing factors.

[01:25] We are all individuals. When it comes to health and wellbeing, this individuality should be considered because there are many factors that can influence a person’s health today.

[01:45] When a naturopath, herbalist, or acupuncturist sees you, they listen, observe, ask questions, conduct testing, and then decide which approaches may be suitable for your health and treatment plan.

[02:05] A personalised assessment, discussion, and consultation can reveal things you may not have thought to mention. Taking more time to talk, listen, observe, and test is part of the holistic approach.

Is Candida the hidden link between what you eat and how you feel?

Common foods such as bread, cheese, alcohol and sugar can cause a host of physical, mental and emotional problems if you suffer from Candidiasis.

Even when you are healthy, bacteria and yeasts, including Candida albicans, are present on your skin and in your mouth, nose and digestive tract. Normally, these micro-organisms exist on and in you without causing any harm. In fact, the micro-organisms present in the lower digestive tract are highly beneficial in assisting in the digestion of food and in synthesizing vitamins which are essential to your good health.

Under certain conditions, Candida albicans can increase and upset the balance of your bacteria. This usually results in an infection known as Polysystemic Chronic Candidiasis (PCC) and can occur in men, women and children.

What are the symptoms of Candida overgrowth?

PCC can manifest as multiple symptoms affecting different parts of the body.

Physical symptoms can include:

  • Digestive: cravings for sugar or bread, chronic bloating, cramps.
  • Emotional: depression, irritability, inability to concentrate, frequent mood swings.
  • Muscles/Joints: aching joints and muscles, feeling weak or tired.
  • Weight: binge eating, excessive weight gain, water retention.
  • Urogenital: frequent infections, itching, discharge.
  • Other: premenstrual syndrome, headaches, rashes, delayed food allergies.
